Garbage Disposal Problems
It is important to keep all foreign objects out of the garbage disposal such as bottle caps, plastic, broken glass, etc. If your garbage disposal stops working, turn off the garbage disposal switch. On the garbage disposal unit in the cabinet below your kitchen sink, you will find a small reset button. It is usually on the bottom or lower side of the unit. Push the reset button and then try turning your garbage disposal unit back on. For more instructions on unjamming and resetting your garbage disposal, please view the following YouTube Video posted by Paul Dodge.
If the unit does not run properly, you will need to submit a maintenance request with Hunsinger Enterprises. There will be a charge for our Maintenance to come for a disposal.
It is important not to flush items such as paper towels and feminine hygiene products down the toilet. We suggest you purchase a toilet plunger in case your toilet clogs. We recommend a plunger with a rubber bell that narrows back down at the bottom. For more information on how to plunge your toilet, please view the following Youtube video, Youtube video posted by Mr. Rooter. There is a maintenance charge for our maintenance to come to unclog a toilet.
It is important to only use dishwasher detergent in your dishwasher. If you use regular dish soap, it will overflow because of the extra sudsing.
If you should notice a water leak, there is usually a shut-off valve found underneath a sink or below the tank of a toilet. You can shut off the flow of water by turning the valve. Please view the following YouTube Video from About.com for instructions on shutting off the water. Please immediately contact our office or emergency line.
Light bulb replacement in the unit is the responsibility of the resident unless the bulb cannot be reached by standing on a chair. Light bulbs in common areas of the buildings are the responsibility of Hunsinger Enterprises, Inc.
Problems in the Bathroom or Kitchen
If you notice outlets and lights in the kitchen or bathroom not functioning but there is power in the rest of your unit, the problem could be a GFI. On the outlets in your kitchen and bathroom, there is a “Test” and “Reset” button in the center between the 2 plugins. Try pressing the “Reset” button on all the outlets in the area with no power to see if it resolved the problem.
If it does not resolve the problem, you will need to check the breaker or fuse box for the unit to see if you have tripped a breaker or blown a fuse. If you have breakers, you will need to switch the breaker to the “off” position and then back to the “on” position. If you have a fuse box, you will need to replace a fuse that is blown. These can be purchased at most grocery and hardware stores.
If you have tried both of the above steps and you still do not have power, please submit a maintenance request with Hunsinger Enterprises.
Storm windows have a small finger pull that needs to be slid open or pushed in to unlock the window and allow you to raise the storm window into the top section of the window. Residents are responsible for storm windows and will be charged if they are lost or broken.
There will be a charge for a lock out both during office hours and after office hours.
If there is a maintenance concern, please contact the office. As per your lease, tenants are not allowed to make any alterations to the structure in which they rent.
